Biography

Olubukola Bolarinde was born in Lagos Nigeria, to the illustrous family of Chief Samuel Olaniyi Bolarinde. The second of five children from her parents, both of Yoruba descent; a significant and predominant ethnic group from the South-Western part of Nigeria. Her father, from Okemesi Ekiti, Ekiti State and her mother, from Ibadan, Oyo State. She left Lagos for Jos, Plateau State (in the North) at the age of 11, defining an integral point in her life; whilst playing a pivotal role in establishing her unique sense of identity and diversity. Olubukola’s formative years were in the Northern part of Nigeria, from Jos to Kaduna and then Zaria (Kaduna State). Naturally drawn to art in all its forms of expression, Olubukola has always had a flare for it, demonstrating her skill through her pencil drawings; from a very early age. She left Nigeria for the United Kingdom where she studied Architecture (she gained admission into The School of Architecture, solely on the strength of her Art Portfolio) and later obtained a Masters Degree in Environmental Design and Engineering. After qualifying as an Architect, she returned to Nigeria and went on to have a most successful professional career spanning over 25years; with more than 20years in key Leadership positions across the Banking, Oil, and Gas; and Telecommunications sectors; in Sub-Saharan Africa. An Architect, Artist, Designer, and Filmmaker. Today, she wears many hats in the Creative Industry that describe her as a unique Storyteller of her time. As a Writer, her descriptive prowess as a storyteller is translated through her art; with every piece, tells a distinctive story.

Bukola is a tested professional with degrees in Architecture and Environmental Design and Engineering, with years of seasoned experience in the fields of Architecture and Project Management. She qualified as an Architect with a BSc. (Hons) Architecture from the Welsh School of Architecture, University of Wales, Cardiff, UK. She then obtained a Masters Degree (MSc.) in Environmental Design and Engineering, from the prestigious Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London (UCL), London, UK. Prior to qualifying as an Architect, she worked in the offices of Michael Hopkins and Partners, London and later with Cartwright Pickard Architects; also, in London. After her masters, she returned to Nigeria in 2002 and joined James Cubitt Architects as a Senior Project Architect where she worked on a variety of commercial, residential and civic projects. She acquired invaluable skills in Project Management, Construction Management and Cost Management; that has since seen her through a most successful career with over 20years holding key senior Management/Leadership roles within the Banking, Oil and Gas and Telecommunications sectors; across West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa.
